Sandburg Village Dental Nestled in an urban jungle, lies a boutique dental practice that first opened it’s doors in 1964 under Dr. Irving Leonard. Some 55 years later, the same practice has seen families and generations of patients. Located in Carl Sandburg Village, Sandburg Village Dental offers general dental services with a holistic approach to comprehensive treatment.

Dr. Reena Shah

DENTIST

Dr. Reena Shah established Sandburg Village Dental in 2013. She graduated dental school from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2006. After dental school she moved to New York City and completed additional training in a general practice residency at Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility. As a resident, she had experience with medically compromised patients, including those who had cancer, had special needs and were paraplegic and quadriplegic. In 2008, she graduated as chief resident, after which she was made an assistant attending in the Department of Dentistry at Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility. She moved back to Chicago in 2011 and joined Dr. Leonard in 2012, working side by side before establishing Sandburg Village Dental. One of her passions is dentistry and seeing her patients smile! Dr. Shah attends courses keeping up with the latest trends and topics in dentistry. Lifelong learning and education are important to Dr. Shah and she enjoys sharing her newfound information with her patients.

Amy

Office Manager

Originally from Wisconsin, Amy attended University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and graduated with a degree in Psychology. After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she met Dr. Leonard while waiting tables at a local Sandburg Village restaurant. It was Dr. Leonard who taught her all things dental: assisting, procedures, materials, including how to run a smooth office. Even though she started as one of his dental assistants over 25 years ago, she is now the office manager of Sandburg Village Dental, helping patients with their questions and concerns. With this Chicagoan’s experience in the dental field, Amy is a wealth of knowledge for the entire dental team. What is her passion? Looking for new recipes and cooking. If you have a great seasonal Italian recipe using fresh ingredients from your garden, please share it with Amy!
